Ezamshah Bin Ismail

En. Ezamshah was appointed as an Independent Non-Executive Director of Etiqa Family Takaful Berhad (EFTB) on 16 June 2026.

En. Ezamshah holds a Master of Science in Actuarial Science from Northeastern University, Boston, United States of America (USA), a Master of Laws (LLM) in Business Law from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematical Sciences from Pennsylvania State University, USA. He is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries, a Fellow and Shariah Registered Financial Planner of the Malaysian Financial Planning Council, and a Chartered Islamic Finance Practitioner (CIFP/CIIF). He has also completed professional leadership training at the International Centre for Leadership in Finance and holds a Certificate in Shariah Law from IIUM.

En. Ezamshah has extensive experience spanning over 40 years in the insurance, takaful, actuarial and financial services sectors. He previously served as the CEO of Commerce Life Assurance Berhad (now Sun Life Malaysia Assurance Berhad) and Hong Leong Tokio Marine Takaful Berhad (now Hong Leong MSIG Takaful Berhad), and earlier held senior consulting and management roles with Mercer Consulting Group in both New York and Kuala Lumpur. His industry leadership includes serving as President of the Life Insurance Association of Malaysia, where he was instrumental in the establishment of Malaysia’s first life reinsurance company, Malaysian Life Reinsurance Group Berhad, and subsequently served as its Chairman.

En. Ezamshah is currently a Senior Teaching Fellow at the International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF), an institution founded by BNM to develop human capital and expertise in Islamic finance worldwide. He also sits on the Board of Harlow’s & MGI Sdn. Bhd., and as a Shariah Committee Member of RGA Global (Labuan) Retakaful Berhad as well as the Shariah Advisor of CLIMBS Life and General Insurance Cooperative, Philippines.
