En. Ezamshah currently serves as an Independent Non-Executive Director of Etiqa Family Takaful Berhad effective on 16 June 2026. He is also a Senior Teaching Fellow at the International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF), and an Adjunct Lecturer Malaysian Financial Planning Council (MFPC). His expertise spans actuarial science, takaful and insurance, Islamic finance, financial planning and corporate governance, with more than four decades of experience in the financial services industry.

He obtained a Diploma in Actuarial Science from Institut Teknologi MARA (now Universiti Teknologi MARA), followed by a Bachelor of Science in Mathematical Sciences from The Pennsylvania State University, United States of America. He subsequently completed a Master of Science in Actuarial Science at Northeastern University, Boston, United States of America, and later earned a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Business Law from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).

En. Ezamshah is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries (USA), becoming the first Bumiputera to attain this professional qualification. He is also a Fellow and Shariah Registered Financial Planner of the Malaysian Financial Planning Council (MFPC), and a Chartered Islamic Finance Professional (CIFP/CIIF). He has also completed professional leadership training at the International Centre for Leadership in Finance and holds a Certificate in Shariah Law from IIUM.

Throughout his distinguished career, En. Ezamshah has held numerous senior leadership positions across the insurance and takaful industry. He previously served as the Chief Executive Officer of Commerce Life Assurance Berhad (now Sun Life Malaysia Assurance Berhad) and Hong Leong Tokio Marine Takaful Berhad (now Hong Leong MSIG Takaful Berhad). Earlier in his career, he held consulting and management positions with Mercer Consulting Group in both New York and Kuala Lumpur. En. Ezamshah was the youngest Chief Executive Officer appointed in the Malaysian Life Insurance Industry.

His contributions to the industry also include serving as President of the Life Insurance Association of Malaysia (LIAM), where he played a pivotal role in the establishment of Malaysian Life Reinsurance Group Berhad, Malaysia’s first Life Reinsurance company, and subsequently served as its Chairman.

In addition to his academic and industry engagements, En. Ezamshah currently serves on the Board of Harlow MGI Sdn. Bhd. He is also a Shariah Committee Member of RGA Global (Labuan) Retakaful Berhad and a Shariah Advisor to CLIMBS Life and General Insurance Cooperative in the Philippines. Previously, he served as a Director of PruBSN Takaful Berhad and as a member of the Shariah Board of Ayady Takaful, Maldives.

In recognition of his distinguished contributions to the actuarial profession and Islamic finance industry, he was honoured with the Malaysian Takaful Scholar of the Year Award in 2017.

Beyond his leadership roles, En. Ezamshah continues to contribute to the advancement of Islamic finance through academic writing, professional training and curriculum development. He has authored modules on Wealth Management and Planning, Islamic Wealth Management, and Strategic Leadership for various executive programmes offered by INCEIF and other international Islamic finance institutions, reflecting his commitment to developing future talent and strengthening industry best practices.
